YouTube changes the rules of the game on copyright

Could it be the end of the "YouTubers"? Behind this name are found that specialists have become Internet users to upload videos and share them online.

Many of them speak of video games: you can take a game emissions in particular, or simply "filming" while playing, in order to share their impressions, exhibit his talent or show the path that must be followed to next level.

These videos can be viewed by the most famous YouTubers, million times... and generate money by advertising that goes from a few euros to thousands of euros per month.

The majority of the YouTubers have signed contracts with intermediaries, called "networks". These companies negotiate with the editors of video games the right to use the image of their games, in Exchange for a percentage for the YouTuber advertising earnings.

This system allows some to make money, and others to obtain cheap visibility of their products. However, this just put in question with the new YouTube copyright policy.

YouTube specifies that to earn money through their videos, i.e. receive a percentage for advertising based on visits, it is necessary to have created the content, be authorized to use it for commercial purposes, and to be as providing documents showing that commercial rights to all audio and video content have.

Otherwise, advertising revenue will go into the pockets of those who are owners of these rights.

The video remains online, but it does not report income to the user who submitted the video. Many YouTubers from all over the world have lately received a notice from YouTube stating that some of their videos stopped being commercial, since they used a music or copyrighted content.

The reaction has been immediate, and some YouTubers have begun to protest for attacking freedom of expression, for fear that their videos removed from YouTube.

YouTube has since 2007 of ContentID, a tool that allows you to automatically locate videos that do not respect the rights of author. The videos uploaded by users are compared with a database of files offered by the owners of the content.

When the content identification system establishes a correspondence with your video and a this databasefile, applies the rule defined by the owner of the content. The penalty can range from fail to perceive the economic percentage, up to the total elimination of the video.

So far, ContentID is not got with the contents produced by the networks. But now no longer the case.

These new rules of the game have been surprised to Internet users, but also to the editors of video games. And is that if monetization disappears, many YouTubers are in danger of abandoning this type of activity: is actually depriving publishers of some form of free advertising.
